- Don’t use liquid drain-unclogging products, such as Draino!
- Use hot water and baking soda to clean drains
- Keep your water heater at 120° F
- Have a water softener installed
- Use water saving shower heads
- Switch to low consumption toilets
- Schedule preventative maintenance check-ups once a year
- Don’t put anything down your drains or disposal that you can put in the trash
- Have your leaking faucets and fixtures repaired promptly
- Have your water heater flushed every 6 months to 1 year depending on how many people live in the house
- Have stainless steel or “Flood Control” supply lines installed to your faucets
- Use white vinegar to clean calcium deposits from your fixtures instead of buying "CLR" or similar products.
